With her husband, General Joseph Aoun, becoming the President of Lebanon, it is expected that Naamat Aoun will play a significant role in social and humanitarian affairs in the country. Her extensive experience in public relations suggests that she could be a strong advocate for social and humanitarian causes in Lebanon.
Naamat Aoun, the wife of General Joseph Aoun, hails from a modest family in the Shiyyah area of southern Beirut. Her father, Melhem Naamat, worked for Middle East Airlines, and she has two sisters, Tania and Lina Naamat.
Born and raised in Lebanon, Naamat studied and worked for many years in the field of public relations. She served as the Head of the Protocol and Public Relations Department at the Lebanese American University (LAU) for 23 years.
Naamat Aoun is a mother of two: her son Khalil, who works in banking and is known for his passion for basketball, and her daughter Noor, who has excelled in the scientific field and works with international institutions. She is also a grandmother to one grandchild from her son Khalil and another on the way, as her daughter is expecting twins.
Away from the media spotlight, Naamat is known for her humility, active participation in social events, and deep faith, which she expresses at various religious and social occasions. She has described her life as being full of challenges, particularly due to her connection with a military figure. She carried dual responsibilities in raising her children and compensating for her husband’s frequent absences due to his military commitments, especially during sensitive security periods.
Naamat has played a pivotal role in supporting her husband throughout his military career and has been actively involved in several key social activities, including honoring the children of fallen soldiers at the Ranks Club in Fayyadiyeh during the Army Day celebrations on August 1st each year.
In previous statements, Naamat mentioned that being married to a military officer requires sacrifice and the ability to adapt to the challenges of military life, emphasizing the importance of partnership and mutual support in a successful marriage. Despite the challenges, she managed to balance her professional and family life, stating in an interview: “It wasn’t easy, but my husband’s support helped me succeed both personally and professionally.”
Naamat Aoun believes that the role of the First Lady requires “patience, awareness, and a strong will” to support her husband in his significant responsibilities while ensuring the stability of the family and the nation.
