As expected, the series “Habq” (written by Bilal Shhadeh, directed by Bassam Al-Salka, starring: Salloum Haddad, Caris Bashar, Mihyar Khodor, Nazly Al-Rawas, Fadi Sabeih, Khatam Al-Lahham, Yazan Khalil, Taysir Idris, Amanah Wali, Madiha Khenifati, Mohammed Khawandi, and others) has come to a near standstill after a series of problems and crises that followed the troubled launch of “Captain Production Company.” This company was formed after a local taxi delivery company of the same name decided to venture into the world of drama production. The producer also has a brother named Hussam Sultan, who works as an actor in some Syrian series.
Initially, actress Slaaf Fawakhri was tasked with managing the company, and she was meant to play the lead role in “Habq.” However, a disagreement between her and the company soon erupted, leading to her being removed from the project. Mihyar Khodr took over the company’s management, while the lead role was given to Caris Bashar.
The camera started rolling for a few days, but frequent interruptions were initially blamed on technical reasons. However, it quickly became apparent that the real issue was financial. The production team started receiving repeated requests to cooperate with the company in order to complete filming. Later, the producer managed to sell a property he owned in Jordan to resolve the situation, coinciding with the fall of the Syrian regime and a brief halt in the drama industry before most Syrian series resumed filming.
Meanwhile, the producer of the project, Salah Tauma, stated in an interview with us that “unfortunately, the filming of the series has been delayed and it will be aired outside the Ramadan season.” He also mentioned that the continuation of the project was still uncertain, highlighting the deep financial crisis facing the newly established production company.
