Is it possible for someone to receive their full payment without doing their job? This idea may seem strange, but it is true in some cases, especially in Hollywood. Sometimes, actors are paid for movies they don’t actually appear in, due to their scenes being cut during post-production or being replaced by other actors for various reasons. In this article, we highlight some famous cases of actors who were paid for movies they didn’t appear in:
Bob Hoskins – “The Untouchables” (1987):
The film “The Untouchables,” directed by Brian De Palma and released in 1987, featured a star-studded cast, including Sean Connery, Kevin Costner, Andy Garcia, and Robert De Niro. However, before De Palma secured De Niro for the role of “Al Capone,” he asked actor Bob Hoskins to be a stand-in in case De Niro couldn’t perform the role. Although De Niro eventually agreed to take the role, Hoskins later received a check for $200,000 with a note from the director that read, “Thank you for your time,” even though he never appeared in the film.
Michael Biehn – “Alien 3” (1992):
In the film “Alien 3,” directed by David Fincher and released in 1992, Michael Biehn’s character was killed off at the beginning of the movie, which meant he was not part of the rest of the story. However, Fincher still needed a scene involving his character, so he opted to use a picture of Biehn and had another actor film the scene. Despite not appearing in the movie at all, Michael Biehn was paid a substantial amount for his involvement.
