Anya Taylor-Joy transformed from embodying the essence of Greek goddess Athena in Australia to channeling princess vibes in France for the premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga at the Cannes Film Festival.
For the red carpet screening on the festival’s second night, Taylor-Joy donned a stunning nude strapless ball gown designed by Christian Dior. Her platinum blonde hair was elegantly styled in a bun, and she accessorized with an elaborate diamond necklace and stud earrings from Tiffany & Co. A striking red lip completed her sophisticated look.
This appearance marked Taylor-Joy’s fifth standout look at the Cannes Film Festival. In the first two days, she showcased a variety of outfits, including a gold asymmetrical dress by Atlein, a Damson Madder blouse paired with a miniskirt, and a sheer Jacquemus dress worn over a white bodysuit. Each ensemble was complemented by her signature red lipstick.
Taylor-Joy said how her role as Furiosa pushed the limits of her physical and mental endurance. She spent six months filming in Australia, during which she experienced a profound sense of isolation. “Driving through the streets of Sydney on my 3 A.M. rides to set, I felt like I hadn’t seen a single person in months. Everyone around me looked like they were from the Wasteland. I was living in an alien world.
Taylor-Joy aimed to deeply understand and embody grit in a new way. “I knew I had grit, but living in isolation was a different experience. Being in a house in the middle of nowhere with just your thoughts and this character, without any distractions or comforts, forced me to confront and cope with that reality,” she explained.
