Bassma Boussel has threatened her critics with legal action following a wave of backlash stemming from her comments about Tamer Hosny. She cautioned against misrepresenting her statements or discussing her in a manner she does not approve of. Boussel shared this warning via her Instagram Stories, stating that any negative comments about her will lead to increased scrutiny and criticism.
Some interpreted her message as directed at Hala Sarhan, who criticized the Moroccan artist for allegedly insulting Morocco through a sharp message aimed at Tamer Hosny’s ex-wife.
In her statement, Boussel wrote, “An important message to those who play the drums and tambourines: anyone who talks about me in a way that doesn’t suit my liking or distorts my words and misleads people, I will pursue them legally.” She emphasized that anyone who attacks her with slander or spreads false information about her will be held accountable.
This threat comes after significant criticism from social media users and some celebrities regarding her remarks about Tamer Hosny, in which she claimed that her marriage destroyed her and was not in her best interest.
A few days ago, Boussel responded to this criticism, saying, “It’s illogical how a woman is expected to remain silent to protect a man’s image, while the man is not required to behave well to avoid breaking a woman’s heart. When a woman finally speaks up after a long silence, people ask why now? And when she remains silent, they question why she didn’t speak up? The issue lies not in speaking or remaining silent, but in some people’s inability to accept the truth when it doesn’t suit them.”
The Moroccan artist added, “Not every woman who speaks on an issue regrets it, and not every woman who is silent is satisfied. Many times, the voice emerges only after patience has been buried, and when the soul is freed from the shackles of fear or hesitation… then the truth becomes heavy for those who are used to hearing only half of it.”
Boussel’s Comments on Tamer Hosny
Boussel’s controversial statements addressed the impact of marriage on her life, emphasizing the need for women to prioritize their own well-being, work, and lives rather than sacrificing everything for their loved ones. She indicated that her marriage “destroyed her” and mentioned individuals she felt were influential in her divorce.
Hala Sarhan’s Criticism of Boussel
Among the statements that angered some was her description of her life in Egypt, likening it to a “zoo with predators,” which many interpreted as an insult to Egyptians. Hala Sarhan attacked Boussel in a post, stating: “Shame on you for playing with the star of stars and the beloved of millions… you think you’re a paragon of virtue and good morals, yet you speak about the reputation of our dear son. No, clever one, you married him for fame and to use him as a bridge; others are smarter; it was just a bubble that burst itself. Oh mountain, the wind won’t shake you.”
Boussel responded with a post of her own, saying, “It seems Hala Sarhan is experiencing a crisis of fading attention, so she decided to return to the scene in a cheap way by spreading racism and incitement, unfortunately… Let me clarify something for you, Hala, Morocco is known for its rich history, established civilizations, and its great people who have made undeniable glories, especially those who have spent their lives in flattery.”
Boussel’s mother also intervened in the dispute, stating: “To the wretch who does not represent journalists, who are you and who gave you the right to insult my country and its women? Before you speak about Morocco, rinse your mouth with honey… the land of kings and princesses, the birthplace of the free, the land of light, knowledge, and culture… ask about Moroccan women before you open your rotten mouth that has long expired.”
