Cristo Redentor
(Christ the Redeemer) – Rio de Janeiro
one of Brazil’s most recognised icons, this 30 meter statue of Christ, with arms outstretched 28 meters, is perched on the peak of the 700 meter Corcovado Mountain. The statue gazes out over the city of Rio de Janeiro, providing breathtaking panoramic views of Guanabara Bay to Lagoa Rodrigo. It also stands opposite the Sugar Loaf which is another iconic place to visit in Brazil for stunning views. If you’re not afraid of heights, you can visit the top of the place to have a taste of this wonderful experience. Being part of the Tijuca National Park, there is a railway climb up to 3.5km to the statue where there is a broad plaza situated around it, as well as a chapel which is a very popular hot-spot for weddings.
