The Public Prosecution in Dubai issued a clarifying statement in response to Rawan Bin Hussain’s appeal and her criticism of the police through Snapchat videos. The statement confirmed that investigations into Rawan’s allegations revealed that she had previously been detained while in an abnormal state and had attacked the police.
The statement from the Dubai Public Prosecution, published on the “X” platform, read as follows: “In response to what is being circulated on social media regarding the claims of Mrs. (R.H), a Gulf national, concerning the legal actions taken against her in Dubai, the Public Prosecution of the Emirate of Dubai clarified that investigations revealed that the aforementioned woman had been arrested while intoxicated in a public place, causing a disturbance. She also assaulted police officers and used offensive language towards them while they were performing their duties. The Public Prosecution ordered her referral and the criminal case to the Dubai Criminal Court for adjudication.”
The Public Prosecution affirmed that “the rule of law is something that cannot be compromised or violated, and that the law is applied in Dubai equally to both citizens and residents without discrimination.”
The statement further emphasized that “anyone who attempts to break the law will be held accountable, and the rule of law remains the ultimate authority and primary reference for the rights and duties of everyone living in or visiting Dubai as a guest.”
