The Executive Office of the Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports Council, during its 71st session held yesterday in Baghdad, Iraq, approved the proposal by Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ahmad Al-Mubaraq, to create a fund for supporting the reconstruction of destroyed sports facilities in South Lebanon and Gaza.

During the session, Dr. Al-Mubaraq welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of the meeting to discuss vital issues, particularly the difficult conditions faced by the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples due to the military assaults. He added, “We hope our positions will offer support to them during these challenging times.”

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports and Chairman of the Executive Office, also welcomed the attendees and began presenting the agenda, which included Dr. Al-Mubaraq’s proposal to establish the fund. The proposal was met with support from the members after thorough discussions.

The Executive Office also adopted a series of recommendations, including the organization of the “First Arab Forum for Promoting Civilized Fan Behavior in Football” in Beirut, and the establishment of the “Arab Youth Salon” in the Lebanese capital.

Later on Friday, the 48th session of the Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports Council will be held, during which the recommendations approved by the Executive Office are expected to be ratified. The session will be attended by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, who will also deliver a speech.

Lebanon will be represented by a delegation led by Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. George Kallas. The delegation includes the Acting Director General of the Ministry, Dr. Fadia Hallal, Head of the Public Relations Department and Member of the Youth Committee of the Council Hassan Sharara, Director of the Minister’s Office and Member of the Sports Committee of the Council Hussein Omar, and the Minister’s Advisor Dr. Mirna Sabra.
