Lebanon’s Ministry of Culture, in coordination with the National Heritage Foundation, has approved a project to convert the childhood home of legendary singer Fairuz, located in the Zokak el-Blat neighborhood of West Beirut, into a museum.
Fairuz lived in this house before marrying the late musician Assi Rahbani and moving to Antelias in East Beirut.
The project includes purchasing, restoring, and transforming the house into a museum that celebrates Fairuz’s artistic legacy and extraordinary career.
Minister of Culture Mohammad Bassam Mortada confirmed that efforts to launch the project began in 2022, noting that an agreement has been reached with the foundation to commence the transformation of Fairuz’s home into a museum.
Mortada explained that the heritage house will be equipped to welcome visitors and will feature a chronological narrative showcasing every stage of Fairuz and the Rahbani family’s musical journey.
