Lebanese actor George Khabbaz is making a notable return to the global scene with his participation in the film Yunan, directed by Amir Fakhr Eddine, which will be featured in the official competition at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). Alongside Khabbaz, the film stars German icon Hanna Schygulla, Turkish actress Sibyl Kekilli (known for her role in the famous series Game of Thrones), as well as Tom Malachia, Ali Suleiman, and Nadine Al-Ashqar.
Yunan is competing this year for the prestigious Golden Bear Award, one of the most important honors in the international film festival circuit, putting the film in direct competition with some of the world’s leading cinematic works. The Berlin Festival, alongside Cannes and Venice, is considered one of the top global film festivals, having hosted some of the greatest stars in cinema history.
With Yunan entering the official competition, George Khabbaz is automatically considered a strong contender for Best Actor for his leading role in the film, further enhancing his impressive career.
It is also worth mentioning that Khabbaz recently filmed another international project in Canada last summer titled Mille Secrets Mille Dangers, directed by Oscar nominee Philippe Falardeau.
Through these accomplishments, George Khabbaz continues to secure new global successes, solidifying his presence in international cinema and elevating Lebanon’s position on the global artistic stage.
