A delegation, including esteemed members of the Syndicate Council – the venerable artist Soumaya Baalbaki (Council Member and Secretary), artist Nicola Nakhle (Secretary), and artist Assad Sroure (Treasurer) – alongside media personality Dr. Jamal Fayad (Honorary Member and Media Advisor to the Syndicate), and honorary member Maestro Nabih Al Khatib, visited the celebrated Lebanese singer Hiam Younes.
Hiam Younes warmly welcomed her guests and extensively recounted her artistic journey, which commenced in her childhood with her participation in the 1953 film “My Heart on My Son.” She detailed her collaborations with leading composers and poets across the Arab world.
She also shared poignant memories with the distinguished writer Mikhail Naimy and the poet and litterateur Boulos Salameh. With remarkable precision, she recited verses from her vast repertoire, showcasing her extraordinary memory and the richness of her experience.
In a symbolic gesture of appreciation, Farid Abu Said, President of the Syndicate of Music and Singing Professionals, honored Ms. Hiam Younes by bestowing upon her an honorary membership card in the Syndicate. He also presented her with a certificate of tribute and a magnificent bouquet of flowers.
Born in Tannourine in 1948, Hiam Younes is recognized as one of Lebanon’s most prominent artists. She has been acclaimed as the “Star of the East” and the “Cultured Singer,” receiving accolades in various Arab nations for her significant artistic and cultural contributions. She is notably the voice behind the iconic Egyptian song “Wahwi Ya Wahwi.”
