Behind the scenes:
According to the title, the film primarily covers the last 12 hours before the death of Jesus Christ, otherwise known as “The Passion”. It begins with torment in the Garden of Gethsemane, continues with the betrayal of Judas Iscariot, the brutal flogging at the pillar, the sufferings of Mary as prophesied by Simeon, the crucifixion and death of Jesus, and ends with a brief depiction of his resurrection. However, the film also depicts flashbacks to certain moments in Jesus’ life, such as the Last Supper, the Sermon on the Mount, and others.
As for behind the scenes of the film, it begins with:
– When director Mel Gibson contacted actor Jim Caviezel and learned that he reached 33 years of age, which was the age of The Lord Jesus Christ when He was crucified, he also learned that the first letters of his name and surname are the same as the first letters of Jesus Christ (J.. C).
– When they were filming the scene of the Romans flogging Jesus Christ on his back with whips, it happened that one of the floggings was accidentally inflicted on Jim Caviezel ‘s back, and he was in pain and pushed his body to the left, causing the dislocation of his left shoulder joint, but he insisted on completing the scene.
– While filming Christ walking carrying the cross, he fell to the ground and the cross fell on him, and he was actually injured, yet he also insisted on completing the scene.
– On the cross, Caviezel s shoulder joint was dislocated and was in pain from the cross falling on him, but he was also struck by lightning while he was hanging, and he almost lost his balance on the cross but he said: If I had to die that may people accept Jesus Christ as personal Saviour, Welcome to death.”
After the film achieved great successes, more than 600 million dollars, and Jim Caviezel reached glory in the world of cinema, Caviezel said: “I do not want my name to be glorified here on earth, but to be recorded in the book of life.”
