As a gesture of support for their country amid the difficult circumstances Lebanon is facing, several Lebanese music stars have decided to postpone the release of their musical works. Some felt it was not the right time to release albums or songs given the current situation, choosing instead to stand in solidarity with the Lebanese people. In this report, we highlight the prominent artists who have chosen to suspend their musical activities until Lebanon’s situation stabilizes.
Najwa Karam
Lebanese singer Najwa Karam has completed recording her new song “A Tawaqt Qalbi” and even shot its music video. The song is written by Mazen Dahir, composed by Emad Shamseddine, and produced by Hadi Sharara. Despite finishing many other songs, Najwa decided to postpone their release until the situation in Lebanon improves, planning to release them gradually on YouTube.
Melhem Zein
Lebanese singer Melhem Zein plans to release a “mini-album” consisting of six songs once the situation in Lebanon stabilizes. The album’s name has not been finalized yet, but some of its key tracks include: “Hafltak” written and composed by Marwan Khoury, “Kawkabi” written and composed by Ivan Nasouh, “Al-Hob Muqaddas” written and composed by Ivan Nasouh, and “Alf Mabrouk” written and composed by Rami Shalhoub. The album is expected to be released in February.
Nawal El Zoghbi
Singer Nawal El Zoghbi has completed five songs for her new album and is still in the process of selecting the remaining tracks. The album is expected to be released soon, once the situation in Lebanon stabilizes. Nawal is collaborating with several prominent composers and lyricists, including composer Aziz El Shafai. The album will feature a mix of Lebanese and Egyptian dialects.
