Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, of Liverpool FC, has shared updates regarding his future with the club following a crucial 2-1 victory over French side Lille on Tuesday night in the seventh and penultimate round of the 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League group stage. Salah opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 34th minute, bringing his total to 51 Champions League goals, matching French legend Thierry Henry’s record.

In his post-match interview with Amazon Prime, Salah said, “I hope this is just the beginning, but I am very proud of this achievement. I wasn’t focusing on it before the game.” He also praised Lille’s performance, stating, “They have a really good game plan and haven’t lost in 21 matches, so they are a very strong team. I’m happy we managed to win the game.”

When asked about his future at Liverpool, particularly with his contract expiring next summer, Salah responded: “I’m not sure about that, but I will give my best.” This comment follows his earlier remarks to Sky Sports, where he suggested that this season could be his last at Liverpool due to no recent developments in contract renewal talks.

Salah, now with 51 goals in the Champions League, sits ninth in the all-time scorers list, with 45 of those goals scored for Liverpool, one for Roma, and five for Basel. Reflecting on his goal against Lille, Salah added, “We won the ball, and Curtis Jones played it really well at the end, and I was able to score.”

He also spoke about Lille’s equalizer, saying, “They didn’t give up, but they resorted to counter-attacks and managed to score. Keeping a clean sheet is very important for us and our defense.”

With this win, Liverpool remains at the top of their Champions League group and needs just one point from their final match against PSV Eindhoven to secure first place in the group.
