Lebanese artist Ragheb Alama set the stage ablaze at the “Mawazine – Rhythms of the World” festival with an exceptional concert at the Renaissance Theater in Rabat, Morocco. This event was not just a regular musical evening; it became the talk of social media and a focal point for officials, setting a record for attendance with 150,000 spectators.
Details of the Mass Concert
Ragheb Alama performed a diverse selection of his most popular songs, which the audience enthusiastically sang along to, including “Maghram Ya Leil” and “Nassini El Donia.” He also ignited the concert with his latest song, “Tarqis,” which further electrified the atmosphere and made the evening unforgettable.
Honoring and Appreciation
In recognition of his artistic career and the resounding success of his concert, Lebanon’s Ambassador to Morocco, Ziad Atallah, received Ragheb Alama at the Lebanese Embassy. This tribute acknowledged his role as an ambassador for Lebanese music in the Arab world and celebrated the immense success he achieved at the Mawazine festival.
“The Arab Dream” Operetta Controversy
On another note, Ragheb Alama’s statements describing the operetta “The Arab Dream” as a “commercial work” angered its lyricist, screenwriter Medhat El Adl. The operetta, released in 2001 with the participation of many Arab artists, carried a powerful message about the Palestinian cause.
Medhat El Adl strongly responded to these statements, asserting that he wrote the operetta’s lyrics “from his heart and stemming from his Arab identity, which believes in the Palestinian cause.” El Adl clarified that while the operetta might be a commercial work, it is “of literary value and expresses the Arab stance on the Palestinian issue.”
