With the arrival of the holy month, families celebrate in their own special ways, expressing joy through unique traditions that vary from household to household and even from person to person.
For many celebrities, Ramadan comes with deeply rooted rituals they adhere to, regardless of their busy schedules.
Early Mornings and Family Gatherings
Actor Ashraf Abdel Baky tells Al Arabiya that he is an early riser by nature. During Ramadan, he spends his mornings reading the Quran and other books, while also handling various work-related tasks throughout the day.
When it comes to breaking his fast, Abdel Baky always shares this moment with his family in a warm and intimate atmosphere. After iftar, he heads to his office to manage his professional commitments and meet with friends from both inside and outside the entertainment industry. He also makes time to attend suhoor gatherings hosted by close friends, seeing them as a great opportunity to reconnect and socialize.
Balancing Fitness and Work Commitments
Actor Ahmed El Awady follows a unique Ramadan routine. Speaking to Al Arabiya, he shares that he views the month as a great opportunity to focus on his fitness, working out during the day before having iftar with his family. In the evening, he enjoys the Ramadan ambiance of Cairo’s famous hangout spots with his friends.
El Awady adds that before his acting career, he strictly adhered to these traditions. However, his busy filming schedule now makes it increasingly difficult to maintain them, as he often spends most of Ramadan on set.
Horses, Football, and Ramadan Nights
For Ahmed El Sakka, Ramadan is synonymous with spending time at his farm. He tells Al Arabiya that he enjoys being around his horses during the day before returning home for iftar with his wife and children.
Most nights, he heads back to the farm, where he has a football field that hosts Ramadan tournaments featuring many celebrity participants. These matches have become a cherished tradition throughout the holy month. However, due to filming commitments for his recent series Al-Atawala, he has been unable to fully enjoy his Ramadan rituals for the past two years.
Cooking and Family Gatherings
Actress Mai Omar’s Ramadan traditions depend on her work schedule. She tells Al Arabiya that in years when she finishes filming before Ramadan, she dedicates the month to preparing homemade iftar meals, which she enjoys with her family. She also hosts relatives, visits friends, and spends memorable Ramadan nights with loved ones.
However, in years when she is filming throughout Ramadan, her schedule looks entirely different. She often spends her evenings on set and only goes home to sleep before heading back to work the next day.
For many stars, Ramadan remains a time of reflection, family, and cherished traditions—though their ever-demanding careers sometimes make it challenging to maintain their usual routines.
