ZHIVAGO is a high-octane West Australian fashion label, widely acclaimed for their signature fusion of tailored ready-to-wear, architectural proportions and provocative red carpet gowns. From the Russian name meaning “daring”, ZHIVAGO is designed for the confident, calculated statement-maker, who lusts for opulence and directional design. Launched in 2012 by co-designer Lydia Tsvetnenko and Lara Kovacevich, ZHIVAGO has rapidly developed a devoted cult-like following; counting supporters amongst some of the world’s most prominent style-makers, influencers and celebrities. Over the past 3 years ZHIVAGO have dressed an enviable list of international and national celebrities including Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Coco Rocha, JoJo, Nicole Scherzinger, Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic, Dej Loaf, Leslie Grace, Liz Trinnear, Jennifer Hawkins, Dannii Minogue, Delta Goodrem, Samantha Jade, Jesinta Campbell, Nicole Trunfio, plus many, many more. In April 2013, ZHIVAGO made their debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, closing the New Generation show with their SS 13-14 collection. Titled Suspended Animation, the cohesive 12-piece collection was a juxtaposition of influences that included athletica, body con boudoir-luxe and their signature high-octane eveningwear. The response from retailers was overwhelmingly positive, with deliveries selling out nation-wide literally within a matter of weeks. April 2014 saw ZHIVAGO show to positive reviews at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in their first individual collection show. The West Australian described the SS14-15 Equilibriumpresentation as ‘a cohesive, definitive collection’ with ‘high-voltage sex appeal’. That same year, ZHIVAGO were invited present the closing show at the prestigious Perth Fashion Festival in September. The show was a futuristic reimagining of their MBFWA show and was critically acknowledged as festival’s best show. Their second solo show at MBFWA in April 2015 saw the label present their highly acclaimed SS15-16 collection ‘Eye of Horus’. Lauded by both media and international retailers, the Egypt-inspired
collection cemented their status as one of Australia’s most electrifying and diverse labels. Nasty Gal buyer Lauren Pomykala said of the show, “If Maleficent and Cleopatra had a lovechild, the Zhivago collection would fill her closet. I loved every minute of it”. Buyers from US retailer, REVOLVE were also very impressed by Zhivago’s runway outing, throwing their support behind the label for the first time. October 2015 saw ZHIVAGO make their international runway debut at the inaugural Los Angeles Fashion Week, in a joint partnership between the Australian Consul-General and G’Day USA. Showcased amongst designers from 13 countries, ZHIVAGO presented their AW16 collection DEZINFORMATSIYA. A perfectly executed celebration of feminine strength DEZINFORMATSIYA embodies the power and defiance of the inner warrior possessed by all women. LAFW fashion director Kim Krempien considered ZHIVAGO a highlight of the event: “Their brand story and unique aesthetic vision are a perfect fit for the LA market.” ZHIVAGO the label is both seductive and sophisticated, the high voltage designs enhancing the female form and further empowering the confident woman.
